Screening Opportunities through Disney

One thing I was really excited about interning at The Walt Disney Company was all the different events I would have access to. One thing I was able to access was screenings of movies and TV shows.

Disney has its own movie theater on the lot, and when a new show or movie was coming out, they would let employees get early access to watch it. They only did a certain number of screenings, so you had to be quick to book them.

Employees were able to bring a plus-one to every screening, so I was able to take my dad to watch The Marvels and my brother to both Haunted Mansion and Star Wars: Ahsoka.

The theater probably held about 150 people or so. It was smaller than I thought, but really comfy chairs, and they would serve popcorn for free.

One screening that wasn’t held at the Disney lot was the Star Wars: Ahsoka screening. It was held at the El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. I took my brother with me because he’s a big Star Wars fan, and it was a show we had been waiting to come out.

Before the screening started, you were able to walk around the theatre and interact with the audience who were dressed up as Jedi, Sith, clone troopers, and of course, Ahsoka herself. It felt like I was walking around Comic Con; it was pretty cool.

They gave us free popcorn and soda for the screening. We also got a light-up lightsaber that we got to take home with us. It was a really fun environment to be in. We thought we were only going to see the first episode for the screening, but they actually played the first two episodes of the series.

As someone who grew up watching Disney movies and Star Wars, getting the opportunity to attend advanced screenings felt surreal. It was one of those moments where I had to remind myself that I actually worked for Disney.

Is there a movie or TV show coming out soon that you are waiting to see?
